Adoptable Fidos

Scroll down to see our wonderful dogs who were surrendered to Fences For Fido & looking for rescue group placement, foster and/or a permanent home.  All our Fidos are fully vetted and available for adoption!

Sometimes when our volunteers check on a chained dog, a fence is not an option or the family realizes that a fence wasn't the right solution for their Fido; so they surrender them to Fences For Fido for re-homing.

Fences For Fido is not a shelter or a rescue group, so we cannot take in dogs unless their family meets our fence build qualifications and the situation is dire (health, eviction, low standard of care). We then look for shelter/rescue group placement, foster homes, or adopters for these wonderful dogs who deserve to know the happiness of being an indoor dog and a real part of a family.

Bruno and Dixie were surrendered a few weeks before Christmas 2012. They were first under Fences For Fido’s care but are now available for adoption through two of our shelter partners in the Portland Oregon area. Both have been fully vetted including spaying/neutering and micro-chipping. They are eager to begin their new lives!  Please read more about our lovable adobtable Fidos and share their stories so they can find the homes they are both waiting for.

 Dixie

DixieNew2My name is Dixie and I was recently rescued off my chain by my friends at Fences For Fido and transferred into the care of West Columbia Gorge Humane Society. I am a beautiful 3-year old with the cutest wrinkles on my head when I concentrate.

I used to live chained in a workshop all by myself for the first three years of my life where I was very lonely and sad. However, thankfully I've been given a chance at a better life and am now discovering how wonderful it is to be a house dog!  I'm learning manners around other dogs and cats too. I am a very lovable, happy girl, forgiving and fun-loving. Eager to please and curious, I would love to keep learning with my forever family! I am good with other dogs, but since I lived in isolation so long, I need a patient dog friend who will help teach me when I am becoming a bit overwhelming because I really really like to play with other dogs. I do very well with cats, but still need consistent guidance on not chasing when they run, but I am most eager to learn if you have the time.  DixieNew1

 Bruno (Mars)

Bruno Mars1Hey, I’m Bruno and as you can see I'm now a happy guy!  Fences For Fido rescued me back in December because I lived all alone in a very small kennel.  Thank goodness I am now under the wonderful care of PAWS Animal Shelter in the Portland Metro area.

I recently spent 3 full weeks working extensively with a professional dog trainer so I’ve learned all kinds of things like sit, stay, down, off, recall, etc. Something else I learned is that I’m most likely an unusual breed called an Olde English Bulldogge, which means I’m half English Bulldog and the other half Bullmastiff/Pit Bull/American Bulldog mix.  If you aren’t familiar with the lineage of Olde English Bulldogges, they are compliant, confident, courageous, alert, athletic, determined, loving, and bold.

Bruno Mars2

I need a responsible and assertive family to guide me in my new life. I’m really good with other dogs, dog-savvy cats and barnyard animals, even chickens! I’m good with older kids too.

Tennis balls are my very favorite toy but I also have a fondness for bones, Kongs, and just about anything else that can be tossed or chewed. I’m eager to please but I need a family that has a natural authority with dogs and can focus on my socialization along with ongoing obedience training so I don’t forget all the wonderful things I’ve learned in my training. Daily walks would be awesome! Nightly snuggles even more so!

I’m almost 4 years old and have been neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. I am currently under the care of PAWS Animal Shelter. What do you think? Could you be my forever home? If you think I might be the happy guy for you, please send an email to my friends at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
