Volunteering with Fences For Fido

Cinnamon's Build Team in Carson, WA - January 19, 2013
Please join us as we unchain dogs in our communities of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington! Fences For Fido is a 100% volunteer nonprofit group that is powered by wonderful people who donate their time, energy, expertise, skills and goodwill to improve the lives of dogs living outdoors on chains or tethers. In one morning you can help build a fence and experience the joy of knowing your efforts made it possible to change a dog's life forever. Plus have fun with other dog lovers while doing it!

Everyone has something to offer! Not good with a hammer? Don't like to use power tools? No worries, there's still plenty to do and we need you!
At each fence build we have veteran volunteers who will help guide and train new volunteers, so even if you have never built a fence before or worked with tools, you are always welcome! We are building approximately 8-10 fences per month all over northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. You can join an event near you, or contact the Project Coordinator to see if ridesharing opportunities are available for further away builds where many of our dogs need your help!
Besides fence building, we also have many important behind-the-scenes volunteer jobs available that we often need help with, so please

or watch for these opportunities on the sign-up page if you'd be interested in any of the tasks listed below.
Additional volunteer opportunities include:
Veterinary transport for spay/neuter and other health needs
Community outreach, marketing and tabling at events
Dog house delivery (truck required) and/or assemble dog houses at site
Follow-up visits during our annual well-check events
Foster homes needed - please contact

Plus we always need dedicated volunteers to help place the posts a few days before the actual fence build. We hope you will consider helping on this very important first step of freeing a dog from a chain or small outdoor pen. The special added bonus of this task is that you will get to meet the special dog before everyone else!
Please note that we have a minimum age limit of 18+. Our build sites are considered construction zones so we cannot make exceptions to this minimum age requirement and cannot have minors at builds even as spectators.
To get started, create a volunteer account then sign up to volunteer for any of our scheduled projects. Prior to the start of the project you will be emailed any necessary information you will need.
We look forward to having you join our Fences For Fido volunteer team!
Special Note For Groups:
We LOVE partnering with other organizations; however we are unable to accommodate private group fence builds because we need our fence crews staffed with many experienced volunteers to ensure the fence will be built within the allocated time frame of one morning and to mentor any new volunteers that have joined us for the fence building. If you have a group of 6 or less, feel free to sign-up for a fence project. This size group will enable us to still have plenty of experienced builders on that particular crew. We respectfully request that you do not sign up a group of more than 6 members for a fence project as this will make it difficult to build the fence in a timely manner. We are happy to have larger groups join us for our bed-making parties that are scheduled throughout the year. Thank you for your understanding and interest in participating in a day that truly changes lives for everyone.
