Denver Scores His Own Touchdown!
February 21, 2012 - 10:28pm by Becca Bartleson
While millions around the country were tuned in to the Super Bowl Sunday evening, two of our volunteer Fences For Fido outreach coordinators were knocking on a door. They were responding to a report of a chained dog. What they found was not only one chained dog, but two. We’re working on a fence for the first dog. The second was living in a rusted barrel and was declared “useless” because he doesn’t do anything but chase chickens and won’t bark when people approach the property. So, the two volunteers cheerfully offered to take the nameless dog off their hands. At that moment, the two volunteers experienced their own TOUCHDOWN! The victory for them was in rescuing a dog—who would be named "Denver"—who is 22 lbs underweight. Fences For Fido’s mission is broader than simply building fences. We could share countless success stories just like this one, such as Hermione, Tryke and Zena. Moments like these are game winners for us. We’d love to have you on our team in whatever way you can help.
