Volunteers are the heartbeat of Fences For Fido!

Fences For Fido was founded with the sole mission of providing a better life for dogs who are otherwise experiencing a lessor quality of life due to a lack of resources within their family. As a non-profit, to accomplish this mission, we rely heavily on donated funds and material resources. It's then volunteer hands and bodies who are able to put those resources to use. Volunteers are our heartbeat, because without them we would not be able to accomplish the physical love-in-action it takes to build safe enclosures for dogs and assemble cozy doghouses to protect dogs from cold, rain and the sun in warm weather. We always have Fences For Fido leaders on site at our builds, so fence building experience is never needed if it's your first time! You can always find a list of available builds here and registration on our website is free and easy. If you have any questions, please email: This email address is being protected from spambots. No More Days on a Chain, Coco & Blueberry

Coco & Blueberry only knew long days on chains in their fenceless yard. Our Southwest Washington client outreach coordinator, Becky and her husband and crew leader, Mike, lead their team of volunteers to make sure this sweet pup duo received the freedom they needed from a life of chains. Becky and Mike have been with Fences For Fido since 2014 and we consider them experts with all things fence building. They are great to work with and love welcoming new volunteers!
You can be added to their region's Fences For Fido Facebook page to get alerts to builds in their area. You can also go to the Fences For Fido website to see available builds for volunteers in both Washington and Oregon.

Special Spaces for Woki and Ford

Fourteen-year-old Ford and her young protege, 10-month-old, Woki will be receiving their freedom and safety with a sturdy enclosure in just 2 weeks!
We felt grateful to be able to help when we received the application from their disabled guardian who lives in an RV on family property. The small indoor space makes it difficult for Ford and Woki to have the space they need to exercise and without fencing around the property, it's unsafe to be outdoors and therefore cables are used to restrain. Since Ford often finds young Woki a little rambunctious, volunteers will also be installing a secondary fence panel on build day, to give Woki and Ford their own outdoor space when needed.

Fences For Fido - Unchained, One Dog At a Time

Patti Loverink, President

California Fundraising Goal Met!

To everyone interested in donating to the California deployment, we’re thrilled to report that we surpassed our goal thanks to all of you, our generous animal loving community! Every dollar raised will go directly to helping the animals impacted by the Camp wildlife. Our work here at home to provide freedom for chained dogs continues. We’d be grateful for donations to support Fences For Fido’s fence building, shelter and vet care fund. Please make your donation by clicking below. We appreciate your support beyond words!

Our crew leaders draw up simple fence plans, pick up and deliver supplies to build site, and lead a dedicated group of volunteers in building our fences to get dogs off chains and into safely fenced yards.

You can volunteer as much or as little as you like, and we provide all training, equipment, and materials.

Fences For Fido builds two types of 6’ fences:

  • Full in-ground fences using welded wire field fencing and 4x4 corner posts.
  • Prefabricated chain-link fence panels for smaller and more level sites.

All fences are fitted with ground wire around the entire perimeter to prevent digging and keep our fidos safe.

The primary responsibility of a crew leader is to ensure the safe construction of a secure fence for our dogs by organizing and supervising volunteers who are passionate about helping get dogs off chains.

If you’re a great leader, enjoy working with people, and LOVE dogs, get prepared to make a tangible difference in the lives of chained dogs, because you’re a perfect fit! Here are a few happy faces of real-life crew leaders. Please join them in this great role!

Love in Action

The mission of Fences For Fido is to improve the quality of life for chained dogs living outside in the elements day and night. But along the way, it has changed all of our lives as well.

Each and every Saturday morning, we transform the lives of dogs living outside on the end of chains. Fences For Fido is a real labor of love, and as such we wanted to share with you several of the stories that truly do capture the very heart of Fences For Fido far better than any words.

Love in action.
